- DirectX foundation 5.0
- ----------------------
-
- Location on the CD: \DX5
-
- Contents: Microsoft DirectX components and drivers.
-
- This component may not be available in a demo version of Armor Command.
-
- This component is required. If you don't have it previously installed in
- your machine, you must install it in order for Armor Command to work
- properly.
-
- During installation, a dialog might pop up asking for the location of a
- certain required file, usually located on your Windows 95 CD. If this
- happens, the Armor Command installation CD should never be removed from
- the drive, or the DirectX installation will hang the computer.
-
- If the required files are located on another CD, the best workaround is
- to manually install DirectX foundation by using the following steps:
-
- 1) Copy the DirectX setup files to your hard drive. This can be done by
- running Windows Explorer and dragging the 'DX5' directory from the CD
- (usually the D: drive) to your C: drive.
-
- 2) Run the program called 'dxsetup.exe', located in the 'DX5\directx'
- directory.
-
- 3) Insert the CD with the required files when prompted. The installation
- should proceed normally now.
-
- 4) Delete the files that you copied to the hard drive.
-
-
- DirectX media 5.1
- -----------------
-
- Location on the CD: \AMovie
-
- Contents: Microsoft DirectShow, and updates to Microsoft DirectPlay.
-
- This component may not be available in a demo version of Armor Command.
-
- This component is recommended, but not required. Armor Command will work
- properly without it, but you won't be able to view any of the rendered
- cut-scenes of the game.
-
-
- Mpath's Mplayer
- ---------------
-
- Location on the CD: \Mpath
-
- Contents: Mplayer internet gaming.
-
- This component may not be available in a demo version of Armor Command.
-
- This component is recommended, but not required. Armor Command will work
- properly without it, but you won't be able to play the game on the
- internet using Mplayer.
-
- This component is always automatically installed, if present. You aren't
- required to do anything in order to install it.
-
-
- Heat.Net
- --------
-
- Location on the CD: \Heat
-
- Contents: Heat.Net internet gaming.
-
- This component may not be available in a demo version of Armor Command.
-
- This component is recommended, but not required. Armor Command will work
- properly without it, but you won't be able to play the game on the
- internet using Heat.Net.
-
-
- Sound issues
- ------------
-
- Very occasionally, you might hear a note of the music getting stuck for
- a few secconds. Just wait for a few seconds for it to be cut off.
-
-
- Cutscene issues
- ---------------
-
- Cutscenes in Armor Command are played using Microsoft's DirectShow (also
- called ActiveMovie). Your computer must support Directshow in order to be
- able to view cutscene movies.
-
- If Armor Command can't get past the intro cutscene, just after running the
- game, the problem might be that DirectShow is not supported in your computer.
- Try opening in Notepad the file 'ARMRCMD.CFG' on the Armor Command folder
- (usually 'C:\PROGRAM FILES\ARMOR COMMAND') and adding a line of text as
- follows:
-
- AMOVIE 0
-
- Then, run the game again.
-
-
- Running Armor Command in a window
- ---------------------------------
-
- NOTE: This option is provided for troubleshooting purposes only! Running
- Armor Command in a window on your desktop is NOT SUPPORTED.
- In order to run Armor Command in a window, you must open in Notepad the file
- 'ARMRCMDG.CFG' and changing the number that appears after 'VIDEOMODE' to a
- zero (0).
-
- In order to have the game run properly in a window, you need to configure your
- desktop to 32000, 32768, 64000, 65536, 32K or 64K colors, and the resolution
- to 800x600 or lower in the Windows Display Control Panel. To do this, first
- click on the "Start" menu, then "Settings", then click "Control Panel". This
- will open the Windows Control Panel. Double Click on the "Display" icon to
- open the Display Properties window. Then, click on the "Settings" tab. In here
- you can modify those values, and then Click OK. You might need to reboot your
- computer after doing this.
-
- If you are using a 3D accelerator board that uses its own DirectDraw device
- (such as, for example, boards based on the Voodoo or Voodoo2 chopsets), running
- in a window will NOT WORK, unless you select software rendering.
-
-
- New Keyboard Commands
